1930s Classic Murder Mystery Party Game Kit

At the English country estate, Conifers, Sir Hugo Smythe Armbruster’s 70th party took place last night. Sir Hugo had been knighted after The Great War for his contributions to the war effort. His brilliant sense of both history and propriety established him as an able publisher whose newspaper, The Daily Truth, kept the citizenry informed of what was happening at the front.

The assembled guests celebrated the event in a most fitting way – with enough food and drink to choke the proverbial horse. But, it seems, the horse may have fought back. For, this morning, Sir Hugo was found dead in the stables near the main house. Although the death was at first viewed to be accidental, Scotland Yard took little time in declaring that, indeed, evidence pointed toward murder.

The old gentleman had been a cat fancier, priding himself in the rare breeds that freely roam the grounds of Conifers. It was said that he preferred cats to humans, pampering them with catty trinkets. He had even threatened to leave his vast fortune to The Royal Feline Society rather than have his millions squandered by “fools and scoundrels.” One could only imagine what surprises would unfold when the will is read.

Characters

Giles Jenkins
Sir Hugo’s valet and butler for the past 20 years. He arranged the surprise party.

Lily Fish
The maid. Lily has been employed by Sir Hugo for the past five years. She has a history of service at estates in Berkshire.

Albie Armbruster
Sir Hugo’s son and only heir. He has a reputation for fast cars and fast women.

Rebecca Armbruster
Albie’s wife and daughter-in-law of Sir Hugo. Her humble beginnings have produced potential wealth through her marriage to Albie.

Maude Adamly
An actress. She had been starring in the play, The Lady Likes To Live It Up, until her recent hiatus from the cast.

Sheila Stanton
An artist. She was an uninvited guest who seemed out of place among the others.

Percival Bromley
The stable groom. He has a way with horses and an interest in Sir Hugo’s social events.

Arthur MacKenzie
The editor of The Daily Truth. He worked for Sir Hugo. To him, only the truth will do.

1920s Classic Murder Mystery Party Game Kit

Yesterday marked the tenth anniversary of the signing of the armistice that ended the War to end all Wars. The European economy is today, though, in another war – one of survival. It is in shambles, and many factions struggle for power with promises of better times to come. Last night, however, at a secluded spot in Florida known as Sandy Ring Island, a celebration had occurred. For comrades in arms, wounded in the service of their nations during that Great War, toasted their reunion.

All three had been sent to the same French military hospital to recuperate. There, they had become staunch friends. When the peace treaty was signed, they vowed to be together again a decade after the end of the conflict. At a rustic lodge on the Gulf of Mexico called Sea Breeze they had kept their word.

But, this morning, a pall was thrown over last night’s festivities, for a body was discovered face down on the beach behind Sea Breeze. It was the Russian writer, Gregor Manov, another guest at the inn. His skull had been crushed with a large piece of driftwood. Judging from the footprints left in the sand, the deed had been perpetrated from behind while Manov was returning to the lodge from a late night walk.

The owner of Sea Breeze was a middle-aged woman of Ukrainian origin. The maid spoke little of her background, but appeared by manner and breeding to be an American. These seven were declared to be the prime suspects. Only through careful questioning and precise logic would motive and murderer emerge.

One of these suspects is a murderer . . .

Marta Rinebergs
The resort owner. She returned from Europe to run Sea Breeze after the death of her father. Her activities while overseas have never been fully revealed.

Grace Medford
The maid at Sea Breeze. She was recently hired by Marta Rinebergs as a domestic. She lives in a small house that is remote from the main building.

Andris Varga
A mysterious guest who claims Polish ancestry. He keeps to himself and associates very little with the other guests.

Woody Hartland
A captain in the United States Army. He was an aviator in the World War and is at Sea Breeze to be reunited with his comrades.

Colonel Sir Reginald Price Carlisle
A British intelligence officer. He is currently stationed in Alabama on “special assignment.” He arranged the reunion.

Henri van Ghant
A Belgian businessman. He was an officer during the War and has since become wealthy through investments in various ventures.

Mimi LaFleur
A French woman who seemed to know the comrades. She speaks little of her background and profession. Her flamboyance seems out of place in the rustic surroundings.

Halloween Murder Mystery – Evil Never Dies

Halloween Murder Mystery Party Kit

He was called Evil-Eyed Emil. When he looked at people with his infamous right eye, so the story went, bad things invariably happened. Townspeople cringed and covered their faces as Emil came near, not daring to look directly into his ominous orb.

And, as he was being driven out of Reaper Junction on Halloween night exactly 100 years ago, Emil vowed to return one day to wreak his vengeance on the mob and its progeny for the way he had been so rudely tossed out.

That cryptic curse was all but forgotten by today’s generation of Reapers who laughed at such nonsense. But, the laughter has stopped. For last night, shockingly and unexpectedly, a local resident staggered into the town square and announced that Emil had been sighted in the woods and, true to his century-old proclamation, someone had been the victim of Emil’s anger.

The deceased was Grimsby Graves, the patriarch of a family whose ancestors had helped found Reaper Junction in 1770. The Graves seemed to have had their fingers in every pie that was ever baked in Reaper Junction. The history books say that it was, in fact, the Graves brothers who had led the torch-lit mob that oversaw Emil’s abrupt exit into the stormy night.

So, how then can justice be done? How can someone who is already dead be brought to trial? And, can the court truly find a jury of his “peers?” Or, will the explanation be less scintillating and more sinister?

Could someone have used Emil as a scapegoat to cover a homicide that was well planned and willingly perpetrated by an Emil imposter? Only solid investigative skills and superior sleuthing can identify a killer and, perhaps, enable Emil to finally rest in peace.

Gregory Graves
Grimsby Graves’s only child. Gregory is a “loner” with few acquaintances and even fewer friends. His time is occupied by his unusual hobby.

Penelope Crust
Owner of the Reaper Bakery. Her recipes for Halloween treats have been passed down from generation to generation. No one is quite sure of the ingredients.

Bella Bones
Mortician and owner of Bones Mortuary. The Bones family has supervised the eternal interment of Reapers for as long as people can remember.

Jack Lantern
Pumpkin farmer. Halloween is his most profitable time of the year as people travel from miles around to purchase the perfect grand gourd from his peculiar patch.

Todd Sweeney
Reaper Junction’s barber. He’s been cutting Reaper hair for years and still uses a straight razor to give his customers the closest possible shaves.

Tara Cardoli
Mystic and fortune teller. Townspeople clandestinely seek her advice. Her predictions have been amazingly accurate.

I Saw Mommy Killing Santa

Christmas Murder Mystery Party Kit

It’s Christmas time again and the toy department at Lacy’s is selling more merchandise than its chief competitor, Tidewater’s Toys. The main reason for this explosion of sales is Elmer Ellsworth, Lacy’s holiday Santa Claus. Before Elmer was hired for last year’s Christmas season, Lacy’s toy receipts were so bad that the store was ready to stop selling toys altogether. Now, business is booming because Elmer makes Santa come alive to young and old alike.

In a daily holiday ritual, kids hug Santa and mothers give him kisses as photos are taken for Christmas albums. But, in the midst of parents and children lined up to tell the jolly old elf all about their wish lists, Elmer stands up, utters a faint “ho, ho, ho,” and falls to the floor in front of his chair. He is dead. Someone has done in the department store Santa before he could grant everyone’s wishes.

Yul Tidewater
The owner of Tidewater’s Toys. Elmer used to work for Yul until they had an argument and Elmer took his talents to Lacy’s. Tidewater’s sales immediately took a dip.

Mary Mostly
Christmas tree lot owner and the mother of five. Last year, Elmer promised that Santa would bring her brood everything they asked for. When the presents didn’t materialize, Mary’s Christmas turned chilly.

Kip Ringle
The former Santa at Lacy’s. When Kip was replaced last year by Elmer, Kip got a job as the Santa at Kimble’s Department Store, located directly across the street.

Ginger Redman
Seamstress and costume maker. She supplies all of the stores in the area with Christmas costumes for Santa and his elves. Elmer asked for some unusual alterations to his Santa suit.

Mick Flashburg
The photographer at Lacy’s. During the Christmas season, he takes photos of children sitting with Santa and sells the prints to proud parents.

Holly Hall
Elmer’s high school sweetheart. He left her standing at the altar on Christmas Eve many years ago. She’s never forgotten how he destroyed the holiday season for her.
